How can you help?

Jax Youth Poetry Slam, Inc. (JYPS) was formed to promote literacy, public awareness and critical thinking for at risk youth.  The purpose of Jax Youth Poetry Slam is to serve as an additional educational tool for underprivileged youth.  To provide a bridge that will connect their creative and intellectual side to skills needed to be able to be a critical thinker and great public speaker.  To enable the network of educators and artists to be able to connect with the youth; this will foster a relationship that will create dialogue concerning educational gaps and help the youth acquire a sense of importance and relevance in the world/their community.

Since starting in March 2004, JYPS has always offered free services to at risk youth in Jacksonville, FL.  The P.O.M.E. (Product Of My Environment) is fundraiser created to give 5 Jacksonville youth an 2 adults an opportunity to compete at Brave New Voices in Las Vegas, NV from July 17th to the 20th.

Donation monies collected will go towards the expenses incurred for the trip to Las Vegas, NV to compete in the Brave New Voices Festival (National Youth Poetry Slam).  These expenses include travel, registration, food, etc.
